Harmony is excited to be sponsoring the Hack the System Hackathon by Encode.
For those that don’t know, Hack the System is a 10-week blockchain hackathon run by Encode Club, aimed at university students and hackers. There are over 75 Universities that are part of the Encode Club — including some of the most prestigious universities in Europe such as Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics, and many others.
We’re very excited to be part of this hackathon.
The purpose of Encode is to educate, support and catalyze the emergence of new talent into the blockchain space. Encode work across 75 universities worldwide, running hackathons, accelerators, education series as well as investing and recruiting the best to join leading blockchain companies. Read more here.
When is it?
Starting on 25th February, Hack the System will last 10 weeks — 5 weeks for learning, and 5 weeks for hacking.
You can register for the hackathon here. Pre-registration is open until 25th February until the point at which hacking begins, which is on Monday 29th March.
How Hack the System works:
Teams of 1–6 can either;
- work on their own idea or startup; or
- answer a technical challenge from our sponsors.
There is an overall top prize pool of £5k, as well as prizes per sponsor.

The hackathon is split into two stages:
Learn: Learn about blockchain, the technologies, and the partners involved through workshops and educational material.
Hack: Build your project.
Register by Monday 29th March
Learn: Thurs 25th Feb 2021 to 28th March 2021
Hack: 29th March 2021 to 2nd May 2021
Submissions: 2nd May 2021
Judging: Early May 2021
Prizegiving: Mid May 2021

Over the past 2 years, Encode has had over 3,000 hackers take part, with over 350 projects completed. They’ve seen over 100 PhDs and professors participate in that time, and have given out over $250k in prizes!
